Teambuilding starts with the leader skill. Here are my general guidelines for teambuilding in mid-game:
For late-game, there is no "start simple", you build the entire team to cover specific mechanics on specific floors. When you're building for early game it seriously doesn't matter, some of the most efficient setups for it just use some specific leads and no subs. You're asking for a tool in-game that automatically builds a team for you, right? Again, teambuilding varies wildly depending on your leader, your helper, and the specific dungeon you're trying to clear.
